Federal Minister of the Interior and Community of the Federal Republic of Germany - Nancy Faeser along with delegation undertook the first official working visit to Georgia.

Upon arrival in Tbilisi International Airport Minister Faeser was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federal Republic of Germany, Levan Izoria.

As part of the official working visit, Nancy Faeser will hold meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri.

Notably, on December 15 of this year, the German Parliament passed a legislative act regarding the recognition of Georgia as a safe country of origin. This decisive move by the German government serves as a validation of Georgia"s democratic governance and attests to the effective protection of human rights by the state institutions of Georgia.

As part of the official agenda, Agreement on Migration and Mobility is scheduled for signing between the Government of Georgia and the Government of Germany. The Agreement aims to bolster collaboration between Georgia and Germany in the field of labor migration and education, with an emphasis on enhancing educational and internship initiatives for Georgian students and researchers. Additionally, the agreement outlines measures to intensify efforts against illegal migration, which includes strengthening cooperation on readmission and reintegration of citizens of Georgia violating visa-free travel regulations.

Notably, Readmission program has been successfully carried out since March 1, 2011, after the Agreement between Georgia and EU signed in 2010 on the readmission of persons residing without authorization entered into force.
